When selecting a new set of lever pad door handles made of Upvc it is essential to ensure that they match the PZ (distance between the spindle of the handle and the centre of the cylinder hole) of your current multipoint door locks, as these need to be in line for the doors to remain locked, either from the inside or outside. It is a good idea to loosen the screws holding the door handle you have and then check the mechanism. If the screws aren't tight enough then you might need to loosen them even more. Non-sprung: These do NOT include a mechanism that can spring the handle lever to a horizontal position.
To fix the door handle lever that is sliding you'll need to locate the hole or detent access pin. It's usually a small hole or protruding ring or rectangular that is located on the base of the handle plate. Once you have located the hole for accessing the detent or pin, you can remove it using an screwdriver.
After the handle is positioned horizontally, you can put back the screws. Close them to ensure that the handle stays fixed to the base plate. Consider applying a threadlocking solution to the threads of screws to increase grip and prevent them from loosening over time.
There are a myriad of reasons why lever door handles droop. The most common reason is that the fixings are over tightened and are putting stress on the bearings that are which causes it to become a bind on the door's face. It could also be that the levers haven't been adjusted at the right angle, which causes compression of the latch mechanism, preventing it from fully springing into motion.
Another common cause is that the sprung lever is not functioning properly and this is typically due to the sprung not being in the right position within the backplate. The simplest way to check this is to turn the handle to see whether it changes to the horizontal position.
It is essential to repair any door handles that are damaged as soon as you can. This can cause excessive wear on the screws and the handle could fall off the base plate. It is also recommended to tighten any loose screws on a regular basis to prevent them from becoming looser.
